Tech Design and The Alzheimer Society Presents "Coffee Break'
The Technological Design program at Northwestern partnered with The Alzheimer Society of Perth County recently. The Tech Design students worked their way through the design-draft-build process to create a set of trophies as part of the 'Coffee Break' campaign. 'Coffee Break' is a major fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society that sees friends, co-workers and customers gather in communities across Canada to raise funds for local Alzheimer Societies. The students were challenged to create trophies to recognize the top fundraiser in each of seven community categories.
The students were given the criteria of designing an interesting trophy that could be produced in-house while staying within as tight of a budget as possible. The finished design made use of re-purposed wood and off-cuts from earlier projects, and dollar store coffee cups spray painted gold. The decals and plaques were made using the digital printer/vinyl cutter in class.
