Huskies Take The Dubs
On Tuesday, Oct 30th 2018 the senior boys volleyball team faced St. Annes, 6th ranked team, and Goderich, the 10th placed team at Stratford Northwestern Secondary School. The Northwestern Boys took three straight sets against the Goderich Vikings. Rhys Britton and Michael Vanderwiel supplied the outside hitters, Jason Guy and Luke Hyde, with well placed strategic sets. Jalen Lewis and Derk Sybersma displayed their incredible athleticism through their monstrous blocks and hits throughout the game. Marcus Nicholson served 6 straight points against the Vikings sealing the deal for the Huskies rather handedly.
The St.Annes Eagles versus the Huskies was a rather close game. The Huskies won the first set but, the Eagles came back in the second set ready to compete. In the end, the Eagles took the second set from the Huskies winning 27-25 in a close, yet intense match. This brought the game to third set, but the Huskies were prepared to show the Eagles how superior they really are. The Huskies displayed their incredibly talented volleyball skills through Luke Hyde’s fiery jump serves and Jason Guy’s powerful smashes. In the end, the Huskies were too strong for the Eagles, resulting in the Huskies taking the victory.
After Tuesday's successful games, the Huskies ended up finishing 2nd in all of Huron Perth and will move onto the playoffs on Tuesday Nov 6th. The Huskies will play in the Quarter finals against the 7th place team Listowel Lightning.
